Silent Key: Mark Pfaff of Sparta

 Mark was anactive member of the Wisconsin chapter
 and was the chapter's representative to APCO's executive committee
 for many years prior to Kent Kruger. 
He and his family attended many APCO annual conferences.  The obituary below is

Mark R. Pfaff Dec. 7, 1950 - July 17, 2003

SPARTA, Wis. Mark R. Pfaff, 52, of Sparta passed away Thursday, July 17,
2003, at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer of which he
never complained. He was born Dec. 7, 1950, to Kermit and Sylvia (Harper)
Pfaff in La Crosse. He grew up in the Cataract area and moved to Sparta when
he was 12 years old. He graduated from Sparta High School in 1969.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 until 1974 and served in the
Vietnam War. Mark married Kathy Skoyen on Jan. 12, 1974, in Sparta. He
worked for the Sparta Police Department from 1974 until 2001.

Mark was a member of the First Congregational Church of Leon.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Sparta; his children, Kristin, Kimberly
and Matthew, all of Sparta; his mother, Sylvia (Milo) Bryhn of Sparta; a
sister, Julie (Wayne) Kroeger of Wausau, Wis.; nephews, Bryan and Daniel
Kroeger of Wausau; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kara; and his father, Kermit.

Burial with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2112 will be in Mount
Hope Cemetery, Sparta.
